Be prepared: Up-to-date weather and disaster information
Get Ready Queensland
Don't wait for a disaster to happen before you think about how you and your family are going to survive. In a major disaster, high winds, rising floodwaters, debris or damaged roads can prevent emergency services from reaching you. Your community could be isolated and essential services disrupted for up to three days or more.
You may not have immediate access to support and will need to rely on the supplies and equipment you have on hand at home. If you were isolated right now, would you be prepared?
Be Ready Central West
The Be Ready Central West flipbook is a collaboration between Barcaldine, Blackall-Tambo and Longreach Regional Councils and the Winton and Barcoo Shire Councils.
The flipbook addresses the most common natural disaster events that occur in the central west, such as flooding, severe storms, bushfires, heatwaves and as of last year, pandemics, and provides information on how to prepare for these events and the steps to take once the event has passed.

Natural disaster survey supports faster disaster assessment for producers
With extreme weather events just around the corner, now’s the time for Queensland producers to get ready. As part of preparing for the disaster season, producers are encouraged to familiarise themselves with the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries’ Natural Disaster Impact Survey. The survey has been designed to support producers who have experienced losses or damage to their property during a disaster event. The information collected through the survey helps the Queensland Government determine the appropriate level of disaster recovery assistance to provide under jointly funded Commonwealth-State Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements.
Producers can also complete the survey via the Department of Agricultural and Fisheries’ natural disaster ehub during and after a natural disaster event. It’s easy to use and takes less than five minutes to complete. Check it out today!
