Barcaldine Regional Council is transforming the way waste is managed across our region to create a cleaner, safer and more sustainable future for our communities.
Thanks to the successful funding received through the Queensland Government's Resource Recovery Boost Fund (RRBF), Council will establish the BORRC – Barcaldine Outback Renewal and Resource Recovery Centre. This new facility will become the region's primary waste management, recycling and resource recovery hub, supporting improved environmental outcomes while reducing the amount of waste sent to landfill.
Over the next three years, Council will progressively upgrade waste facilities across Barcaldine, Alpha, Jericho, Aramac and Muttaburra. Each community will benefit from improved recycling equipment & infrastructure that will operate as an integrated regional network, supporting the BORRC as the central processing and resource recovery facility.
This investment forms part of Council's long-term commitment to delivering modern, efficient and sustainable waste services that meet the growing needs of our communities.

The burning of any type of waste is strictly prohibited. Offenders may receive fines of up to $2 million.
