Community Grants Program

Grant Program Aims

Council’s Community Grants Program supports local groups, organisations, events, projects and young people whose activities benefit our communities and the wider region.

The program includes four funding streams, allowing applicants to seek the type and level of assistance best suited to their activity.

Regional Representative Support (Youth)

Funding available

$200 per eligible individual.

Who can apply?

This funding is available to school-aged children and young people who:

• Are between 10 and 18 years old; and
• Have been selected to represent the region at state level.

Eligible expenses

Funding may assist with costs such as:

• Travel
• Uniforms
• Registration or participation expenses

A maximum of two applications may be approved for each eligible person.

Community Support

Funding available

Up to $1,500 in combined support, comprising:

• Up to $1,000 in in-kind support
• Up to $500 in cash funding

What this stream supports

Community Support is intended for small, local requests such as:

• Materials and supplies
• Council services
• Equipment
• Venue or facility use
• Small grassroots activities

This stream is designed for straightforward, low-risk requests that support local community participation and activities.

Application period

Applications are open all year round. There is no closing date.

Community Grants

Funding available

Up to $5,000 in cash funding, in-kind support or a combination of both.

What this stream supports

Community Grants support programs, events, projects and initiatives that provide a clear benefit to the community.

Examples may include:

• Community events
• Local programs and activities
• Community projects
• Initiatives with broader community participation or reach

Application requirements

Applicants must:

• Demonstrate a clear community benefit
• Provide a basic project budget
• Identify the intended outcomes of the project, program or event

Applications are assessed in accordance with the grant-round schedule below.

Regional Impact Funding

Funding available

$10,000 or more.

What this stream supports

Regional Impact Funding is intended for major or flagship events and initiatives expected to deliver significant outcomes for the region, including:

• Economic benefits
• Increased tourism or visitation
• Greater regional awareness and profile
• Broader community and regional benefits

This stream will provide fewer, higher-value investments in activities capable of delivering significant regional impact.

Examples may include major events such as the Tree of Knowledge Festival and Alpha Races.

Application requirements

Applicants must clearly demonstrate the anticipated regional impact of their proposal.

Successful applicants must complete and submit an acquittal report following the funded event, project or initiative.

Applications are assessed in accordance with the grant-round schedule below.

Community Grants and Regional Impact Funding rounds

Community Grants and Regional Impact Funding applications are assessed across four grant rounds each year.

Applications must be received by the relevant closing date. Applicants should allow sufficient time between the outcome-notification date and the commencement of their proposed event, project or activity.

Barcaldine Regional Council's Community Grants Program provides financial support to organisations to deliver projects that address identified community needs, build community connection, skills and resilience, and develop sustainable community infrastructure. The program is governed by Councils updated Community Grants Policy(PDF, 141KB).

Submitting Application

Completed applications may be returned in person to Councils Administration Office’s or be emailed to grants@barc.qld.gov.au.
