Card skimming device located at Westpac ATM, Beech Street, Barcaldine

On the 12th of October 2021, Police were made aware that a possible card skimmer device had been located on the Westpac ATM, Beech Street Barcaldine.

Technicians had previously inspected the device on the 5th of October 2021 which found the ATM to be not tampered with.

On the morning of the 12th of October 2021, technicians inspected the ATM and found what was suspected to be a card skimmer device.

The ATM was immediately closed and barred from further use.

On the 13th of October 2021, technicians confirmed that this was indeed a card skimmer device and is scheduled to be replaced before the weekend.

Anyone who has used this ATM between Tuesday 5 October and Tuesday 12 October 2021 is urged to check your bank and credit accounts for any suspicious transactions.
