In 1963 local Grazier Doug Langdon uncovered the most complete fossilized Dinosaur skeleton yet to be discovered in Australia. Being the first of its kind it was named the Muttaburrasaurus Langdoni. The Muttaburrasaurus was a plant eating, land living dinosaur that roamed the Earth around 100 million years ago.
The replica of the Muttaburrasaurus Langdoni has a new home in the Muttaburrasaurus Interpretation Centre. The fossilised remains of the dinosaur are currently housed in the Queensland Museum in Brisbane.

Centre of Queensland monument
The Centre of Queensland Monument was constructed to acknowledge Muttaburra being the closest town to the geographical centre of Queensland. The monument consists of various elements representing Muttaburra and the pathway represents the annual rainfall since 1885 and the history of Muttaburra since 1860. The coordinates for the surveyed geographical centre of Queensland are 22ᵒ 29' 13" South 144ᵒ 25' 54" East.

Dr Arratta Memorial Museum
After the closure of the Muttaburra Hospital on 1989, the building was converted into a historical display and museum and was named in honour of Dr Joseph Arratta who spent 35 years in the community and was awarded the MBE for his service. The museum has both medical and hospital displays and the operating theatre dates back to 1933 and is equipped.

A.A. Cassimatis Store and Cottage
A.A. Cassimatis brought his family from Greece to Australia in 1913. The Cassimatis Store closed its door in 1978 having been a bank, green grocer, haberdashery, emporium, cafe, white goods merchant, liquor store and motor spirits. The Cassimatis Store museum has on display; old cash register, scales, lolly jars, soft drink machines and other unique items.
Next to the Store is the house where George and Stavrolla Cassimatis and their five children live. The Cassimatis home shows living conditions in the early 1900's and is furnished with much of the original furniture and personal possessions.

Pump Hole
Enjoy a family BBQ and swim under the shade of the gums that are over 100 years old. Also an ideal spot for camping, bush walking, bird watching and fishing for Yellowbelly, Black Bream and Jew Fish.

Nature Drive
Within 4km you will see a vast variety of both plant and animal life. The landscape will change from gidgee country to desert sand ridge country to black soil channel type country.

Broadwater
Broadwater is located south of town and is a 3.5km stretch of water on the Thomson River ideal for fishing, skiing, bird watching, bush walking and swimming.

Union Camp and Union Hole
In May of 1891 approximately 400 shearers camped at Union Hole during the great shearers' strike. Union Hole is where the shearers drew water and carted it back to their camp by dray. There are still some remains of the campsite.

Public Art
Muttaburra is the home to a significant collection of public art. The works are located across our community and many pieces play an important role in capturing the historical values of our past. Other works portray our lifestyle, environment and landscape. They add value to our community and allow visitors to enjoy our past and present history and take home memories of their visit.
Muttaburra Cemetery
The Muttaburra Cemetery is located 1.4km from the centre to town and a great place to research the genealogical history of the area. There are graves dating from 1885. Pictures of the graves and the information on them can be obtained from the www.muttaburra.com website.
Muttaburra Aquatic Centre
The Muttaburra Aquatic Centre is open all year round and contains a 25 metre swimming pool and heated spa. It is home to the Muttaburra Mudskippers Swimming Club and is open to the public.
Town Dam
The town dam was built in 1885 by Mr Hudson. For some years this dam was the source of water for the town and water carted into town in casks. Residents paid 2/6 per cask although double this amount was not uncommon. Later on, the dam was also used as the town's swimming pool. During the summer months, many residents spend time at the dam enjoying the peaceful surrounds.
