“Fun Making Glass Mosaics” for both beginners and experienced.
Learn a variety of ways of making mosaics.
Alpha Tourism were successful in our Grant Application in 2020 through the Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF) which enables us to bring Mosaic Artist Mrs Jeanette Rintoul out from the Gold Coast. Jenny will conduct a two-day workshop and then be an Artist in Residence to help work with local volunteers to Create Mosaic Table Tops for our cement tables down the main street of Alpha.
Jenny will have the first two tables Pre-Designed and has started the more detailed part of the designs (which she will transport out with her). Participants will then learn about working with Glass Mosaics and assist in the process from Start to finish. They will be glued, grouted and sealed on two tables in Shakespeare Street, Alpha.
Our local Mosaic ladies will also be assisting, but we would also like to ask anyone in our Community who can spare some time to please come along and help.
So, come along to the Workshops and enjoy a wonderful weekend. Anyone who has experience of any sort are most welcome. During the week of Monday 22 to Friday 26 March 2021 we are looking for volunteers to come along to help Jenny get the two table tops completed. Anytime you can spare will be much appreciated.
This project will then require Volunteers to come together (after Our Artist Jenny has left) on a regular basis so that the remaining Tabletops can be completed. These will all be Pre-Designed and Jenny will leave all our volunteers with the knowledge and confidence they need to be able to work on these tabletops from beginning to completion.
Alpha Tourism would like to thank and acknowledge the Queensland Government and Barcaldine Regional Council RADF program for the Grant and for allowing the grant to be postponed until this year due to COVID-19, and Alpha Cultural Group Mosaic Ladies for offering their assistance for this Project.
I am asking for members of our community if they could come forward to help make happen. Our main street will look wonderful with your assistance.
