Barcaldine Regional Council
Welcome to the Barcaldine Regional Council website.
The Barcaldine Region is located in central west Queensland approximately 440km west of Rockhampton, covering an area of 53,677 sq km with an estimated population of 3,503 people.
The Regional Council is made up of the former Shires of Aramac, Barcaldine and Jericho including the towns of Alpha, Aramac, Barcaldine, Jericho and Muttaburra.
The Region is one of the largest cattle producing regions in Central Western Queensland and also has a productive sheep, wool and macropod harvesting industry with the prospect of mining.

Report on Wild Dog Landholder Advisory Committee Meetings
The Barcaldine Regional Council sponsored very successful public meetings of landholders throughout the region to hear JOHN CUSKELLY, WILD DOG CO-ORDINATOR, BIOSECURITY QUEENSLAND present the operational details of the “Paroo Model” of a landholder advisory committee on wild dog control. John was joined by Peter Lucas, 'Cliffdale' Wyandra - grazier, Chair of Paroo Shire Wild Dog Management Advisory Committee, member of both Qld Dog Offensive Group [QDOG] and National Wild Dog Management Advisory Group and Brett Carlsson, AgForce Wild Dog Project Officer at these meetings.
Meetings were held at the following locations:
• Barcaldine Town Hall Wednesday 18th of April, 2012 at 6 pm
• Muttaburra Town Hall Thursday 19th of April, 2012 at 9 am
• Aramac Town Hall Supper Room Thursday 19th of April, 2012 at 2 pm
• Jericho Town Hall Friday 20th of April, 2012 at 9 am
• Alpha Town Hall Friday 20th of April, 2012 at 2 pm
At each meeting it was decided to progress with the formation of a Wild Dog Landholder Advisory Committee for the whole of the Barcaldine Regional Council area. The mapping of Tentative Boundaries was commenced by those present and Brett Carlsson has offered to co-ordinate the overall establishment of the groups within the area. A map of the area showing the tentative boundaries will be placed on this website as soon as the map is finalized. Each group will eventually elect their own co-ordinator and sub co-ordinator, if required. Some of the groups formed at the meetings, decided on their co-ordinators etc at the meeting. Brett will be contacting individual groups to finalize co-ordinators and areas etc.
